FAQs

  • We place you and your needs at the centre. Total Automated Solutions are independant of instrumentation, plc, control and automation manufacturers. We use a number of factors to determine the most appropriate technology. These include: 1. Understanding of client requirements, through a review of a URS (user requirements specification) or close co-operation/consultation with the client 2. Previous experience and deployment 3. Ease of installation, use and maintenance 4. Speed of deployment/length of process/plant life 5. Preferred client technology 6. Through life costs. Do you have something we can help with? Building Automation, Embedded Automation, Hospitality and Leisure Facilities, Food & Bererage Production, Machine Tools, CNC & DNC, Mining Material Handling, Oil & Gas, Packaging Pharmaceutical, Fine Chemicals Power and Energy, Transportation and Nuclear. We would be delighted to discuss any applications or challenges that you may have, to find a solution for you.

  • Yes, we have engineers qualified in intrinsically safe equipment and knowledge of ATEX systems and requirements. They all have an understanding and experience associated with deploying systems in hazardous areas. Typical capabilities include: ATEX Inspection & Installation Services, Training Services, Hazardous Area barriers and equipment.

  • Yes, almost all of the work that we carry out on-site involves working with upgrading or interfacing to legacy systems. Our knowledge and experience across a wide range of PLC, scada, DCS and PCS systems means that we have probably worked on a similar system in the past. Depending on a number of criteria (age of installation, OEM support for the product, the application, ongoing support, etc.), we can modify existing units, determine the most cost effective way to upgrade them or install a new unit to support the additional functionality. We work closely with our clients to optimise the overall solution according to thier needs. Are you thinking of an upgrade for improved efficiency? Just give us a call or send a message.

  • Yes, it's what we do best! We have a range of design services that are used. Which we adapt depending on the project and client requirements. In addition, we are proud to have an experienced team of installation and commissioning engineers - who are authorised to work on multiple sites. After commissioning and handover, the project enters into support. Services typically include: Detailed Electrical Design, Electrical Installation, LV Power, Controls, Instrumentation, Hazardous Areas, Network/Data, Fibre Optics, Profibus, Ethernet, Field Bus, Radio, Telemetry Systems, Full Testing & Commissioning Services, Instrument Testing and Calibrations, and Hazardous Area/ATEX.

  • Not only is Yorkshire at the heart of Britain, it is also geographically the best location - so the answer is of course - yes. We have provided solutions far into Scotland and are often called back. We carry out work in the South West of the UK on a regular basis, and have had projects in many places in between. Not quite Lands End to John O'Groats, Ireland to Norfolk, but not far off. You can find some of these projects described in the Portfolio section of this website.

  • Yes, over the past 15 years we have provided a number of systems in Australia, the Far East and the Middle East for clients in the renewables, utility and water industries. No matter where you are located, we provide the same quality assured services for all of our clients. Moreover, we are proud to be one of 3 nominated service providers for the Toshiba range of control and monitoring solutions globally. This has allowed us to work on a number of International projects, partnering with Toshiba.

  • Yes, we know how important it is to keep your business running. We can provide emergency support in case of breakdown's, plant faults etc. We have engineers available to address your problems - please call +44(0)844 8004177. Important is that we are nimble and deliver solutions extremely quickly. For example, we completed one entire automation project in less than 15 days - including system design and configuration, MCC panels, PLCs and all installation.

  • Yes, we provide training on all aspects of our services and technologies. This can be classroom based services or onsite. Instrumentation training courses always include real site work to ensure that participants benefit from our vast field experience. We have standard training courses, but can also produce bespoke packages for a project or application.

  • An electrical control panel can be described as a load control centre. All the electrical actions such as power distribution, power transmission and power system protection are performed through the electrical panel only. Electrical control panels are designed and used to control mechanical equipment or package solutions. Each one is designed for a specific equipment arrangement and includes devices that allow an operator to monitor and control that specified asset.

  • A MCC is an assembly or suite of cubicles designed to control some or all electric motors in a central location. It consists of multiple enclosed sections having a common power bus and with each section containing a combination starter, which in turn consists of motor starter, fuses or circuit breaker, and power switchgear.

We produce a range of modular and bespoke MCC’s for excellent reliability in service across multiple market sectors and industries.

  • If you’re looking for ways to remove inefficiencies, highlight new business opportunities, manage downtime, improve production rates, improve safety, and use gaps in workforce skills more efficiently, then the data from your systems and machinery can be used to help you achieve this. At TAS, we will tailor a program based on “the Internet of Things (IoT)” to create a sensory-led system that can be controlled and managed both remotely and locally on-site. Data can then be accessed historically and in real time to achieve these opportunities.

  • In order to bring the data back from the remote site a range of communication technologies can be used. These include: radio, cellular, GSM, GPRS, PSTN, ethernet, satellite, WiFi.

  • We can send the data in many different formats. Some common examples are:

    sms text messages

    email

Over I.P. to a web page

Integrated to an existing system such as a PLC system.
